Charges for cattle deaths
The Director of Public Prosecutions has laid charges over the deaths of 62 cattle during a crossing of the Bass Strait in January 2016.

Nine charges were laid against two companies and some of their operators under Tasmania’s Animal Welfare Act.
The charges come following a joint investigation by the Department of Primary Industries, Parks Water and Environment and the RSPCA.
The matter has been listed for mention at the Burnie Magistrates Court on June 13.
