The evergreen TV presenter and media personality has been confirmed as the guest speaker at the May 20 fundraiser, which aims to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
Killeen is set to be joined on the VIP list by Southern Cross presenter Rachel Williams, who will take up the role of MC, and Launceston band Candy Feet.
Make-A-Wish volunteer and ball coordinator Louise Scott said organisers were hoping to raise enough money from the Hotel Grand Chancellor to grant one to two wishes.
“With the Make-A-Wish Foundation all our money raised in Tasmania is spent on Tasmanian children, so the amount we raise, we actually spend more than that on wishes for Tasmania children,” Ms Scott said.
“I think at the moment we’ve got six wishes in progress in the Launceston community and we also have branches in Devonport, Burnie and Hobart.
“Sometimes they can be really simple wishes like wishing for a computer or wishing to meet someone, and other times it can be holidays or flying with the fairies - the girls recently did a fairy party for one of the children which was quite magical.”
Ms Scott said the event would also include a major auction and a silent auction.
“The major auction includes things like a three-metre by three-metre cubby house, a mountain bike, a trip to Thailand, and then our smaller auction items are things like hairdressing packages, artworks and alcohol.
“There’s something there for everybody, and we hope to have a major item of jewellery for a raffle prize that’s valued at $3000-plus.”
The ball includes a three-course meal, beer, wine and soft drinks.
Earlybird tickets are $150 and are available until April 22, with all tickets purchased thereafter $175 each.
Tickets are available at Timeless Elegance Bridal or online at www.stickytickets.com.au/50370
