Some medical alarms, auto-diallers and emergency call buttons may not be compatible with the NBN.
People are urged to register it with NBN so the corporation can identify homes where support may be needed to help minimise a break in service.
Some personal medical alarms will also not work during a power outage.
You can register by calling 1800 227 300 or visiting www.nbnco.com.au.
People are asked to register their devices “well before your existing landline phone network is disconnected”.
