Renovations at the hub, at the Launceston Medical Centre Wellington Street site, are expected to be completed around late April.
"All the internal building works have almost finished now, so we've moved from four GP rooms, to 14 GP rooms and eight specialist rooms and a large amount of space for some other providers as well," hub director Dr Jerome Muir Wilson said.
The practice is home to 20 GPs, with specialists also having private practices.
Recently, the Launceston Diabetes Clinic joined the hub. Three paediatricians have also come on board, and Dr Muir Wilson said discussions would take place with more surgeons about joining the service. Psychologists, dieticians, plastic surgery and gynecology services are among other care available at the hub.
In the last half of this year, pharmacy will join the hub, improving the sense of convenience even further for patients.
Car spaces will rise to 72 from 50, and eventually an on-site cafe will also benefit patients.
The Launceston Medical Centre was started two and half years ago by husband and wife duo, Launceston GPs Dr Muir Wilson, who comes from Stanley originally, and Launceston-raised Dr Jaclyn O’Keefe.
The current expansion is the third stage of building at the site since the couple purchased it, when it was still an old pub.
