The 99 signatories have asked for the cameras to be a joint provision by the council and Tasmania Police.
The petition said there was ongoing criminal behaviour, hooning and erratic driving in the area.
According to Monday’s council agenda council officers have recently met with representatives from Tasmania Police to discuss the merit and efficacy of the actions proposed in the petition.
“A report outlining the proposed actions to be implemented in response to the petition will be presented to a Council Meeting as soon as practical for consideration following this SPPC Workshop,” the agenda said.
