Evans will enter Sunday’s 10 kilometre contest fresh off placing 14th in the Australian 5000 metres championships and full of confidence.
He finished second last year to Josh Harris, and on Wednesday admitted he was determined to go one better this time around.
But he admits it won’t be easy as he faces stiff challenges from training partner Pat Smith and Devonport’s Brian Lyons.
It will be part of a big weekend for the Launceston athlete, with the Tasmanian Athletic Championships also taking place on the weekend.
“It's my second time racing Run Devonport and I had a shocker last year,’’ he said.
“This year I am in much better shape and I'll be backing up after doing the state 1500 metre the day before in Hobart.”
Run Devonport will include four distances, 10 kilometres, five kilometres, 2.5km and one kilometre.
