The September 2016 show saw the theatre company awarded best production, best ensemble, best direction, best design set and best supporting male actor in the community theatre category.
Twelve Angry Men director and Three River Theatre president Stan Gottschalk said he was “overwhelmed by the response” to the production.
“It was a terrific night and a nice way to be honoured by knowledgeable judges and in front of your peers,” he said.
“The show had an exceptional script ...it struck a chord with people and I had a fantastic cast – it was Twelve Angry Men and I had to find 12 very equally capable actors and I was blessed to have had that.”
Mr Gottschalk and the Three River Theatre crew were not the only Northern Tasmanian's to leave the event with Errol’s in hand either.
Launceston musician and actor Chris Jackson was also a winner at the third-annual event, receiving an Errol for his sound design in the production I Am a Lake at the Mudlark Theatre.
Tasmania’s tattooed tenor Matthew Garwood won best performance in a leading male role for the Encore Theatre Company production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story.
Launceston’s Stompin company won best production for Panorama and Noreen Le Mottee gained a lifetime achievement award.
Organised by the Theatre Council Of Tasmania, the statewide awards have been held for three years and include more than 30 awards across four categories.
Also known as ‘the Errols’, the annual event pays tribute to Tasmanian actor Errol Flynn, who was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
This year, more than 50 productions were entered into the awards which is the highest number of entries in the history of ‘the Errols’.
Other winners included Blue Cow Theatre Company, whose production of Shakespeare's the Tempest won the most awards, with a total of seven in the professional theatre category.
The Show Company, Allan Jeffrey and Leiz Moore’s Hobart production of Wicked won the most awards in the community musical theatre category, taking home five Errols.
