In the last two months, City Mission recorded 148 more clients than seen saw in the previous year, client services operations manager Ray Green said.
There were also 70 more emergency relief cases in January and 76 more in February compared to the same months last year.
City Mission’s clients now face going hungry.
“We’re just asking again, if they could provide us with food that we can hand directly onto people,” Mr Green said.
“City Mission continues to support more and more Northern Tasmanians in desperate need. We are in urgent need of donations as our shelves continue to empty.”
Items such as breakfast cereal, long-life products, quick meals, pasta and rice are ideal products to be donated.
Food items can be donated to 48 Frederick Street, Launceston.
