The recently-appointed president of the Retired Police Association of Tasmania said he hopes to use his new position to help bring recognition to officers who spent their life serving their communities.
“What I hope to do is ensure our members are given all of the available assistance in their retirement and to help them be recognised for what they have done over the years,” he said.
“Once you’re in the police, it never fully leaves you. What we give them through the association is a fellowship and an opportunity to meet people and find that comradery that they may feel they have lost by retiring.”
With about 600 members across the state, including more than 100 in the North, Mr Plumpton encouraged all retired officers to consider joining RPAT.
“The best thing about being a police officer is the people. It’s not just Tasmania Police, we have members from QLD, the AFP- it’s an entire association.”
