More than 5000 locals are excepted to fill the lawns at City Park for the “prestigious” event, organisers say.
“We’re aiming for a bumper year, with in-excess of 40 Christmas songs. Most importantly it’s an all-local, all-volunteer talent,” carols chairman Danny Gibson said.
The all local line-up will be headlined by singer Matthew Garwood, who is “thrilled” be involved with the event.
“Every year I’ve been involved with it, its just been a really great night,” he said.
This year, the event features a “kids summer wonderland”. From 5pm, children will be able to get a free photo with Santa, make crafts and play on the play gym equipment. The carols start at 7pm.
Event sponsor Dean Harper of One Agency said the time spent organising the event was worth it when you see the smiles on the children’s faces. All funds raised from the event will be donated to The Examiner’s Empty Stocking Appeal. Entry is $5 adults and $3 children, and a safe flame candle.
