“After recording a time in the wet I came into the pits to wait for the circuit to dry out, and when I finally went out to set a time, the red flag came out to end the session before I could record a decent time,” Hislop said.
Despite the setback Hislop stormed through the field to finish second which put him on the front row for heat two which he won.
Starting from row two in heat three Hislop again won pretty much as he pleased, which put him on grid position two for the nine lap final which was contested by 51 cars.
Hislop finished up winning comfortably by 19 seconds adding to the titles he had won in 2004, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Such was his dominance over the huge entry that he repeatedly broke his own lap record on a number of occasions.
