The fire began last night on private property and was monitored overnight by the TFS. It is currently still on private property.
Firefighters have established back burning operations and the TFS issued a smoke alert to warn residents on Pipers River Road that both smoke and ash may be visible around Loriwood Drive, with smoke increasing due to the back burning operations.
The fire is currently being attended by a light tanker, two medium tankers and support vehicles.
TFS advised at 6:30pm that light north-westerly winds are expected to turn easterly and push the fire back toward the backburn, assisting in controlling the fire.
The TFS advises people with medical conditions to have a personal plan to avoid smoke from the burn.
People traveling in the area should exercise caution if driving in smoke. Turn on your headlights and drive slowly.
