The two-day carnival in Launceston is between the six northern rural Tasmanian school regions.
Tamar first scored 9/124 to North East’s 9/62 and then registered a five-run win over Northern Midlands.
In its other close clash, Northern Midlands chased down East Coast’s 7/113 with two wickets remaining.
East Coast batsman Issac Newitt had done all he could amid top-scoring with 29 in the loss.
But Newitt came back to guide his team to a 92-run win over Meander Valley as he hit an electrifying 51 before a 30-ball mandatory retirement.
Meander Valley, East Coast, Northern Midlands and Circular Head have all notched up one win from their two games.
The Country Gold Cricket Challenge continues on Tuesday.
