Geoffrey Cecil Best, a resident at the nursing home, was last seen shortly after 8am on Friday morning.
A search involving Tasmania Police Search and Rescue, and the State Emergency Service, took place across Saturday in bushland around Karingal Nursing Home and Devonport Soccer Club.
Mr Best was found in the bushland away from one of the established tracks.
He was taken to Mersey Community Hospital for assessment and treatment for non-life threatening injuries and exposure.
A number of concerned residents commented on the Tasmania Police Facebook page suggesting search locations.
A statement from Tasmania Police thanked the public, noting the “overwhelming response” to their online appeal for information.
Police also thanked the SES, saying it was unlikely Mr Best would have been found so quickly without their help.
