Longford, ACL, Bishopsbourne, Legana, Trevallyn and Evandale will take part in the nine-a-side Twenty20 roster, which starts on Wednesday, November 16.
TCL secretary Charmaine Whyman said the competition was about encouraging women to take up the summer sport.
“Last year we had four teams and three clubs and interest is growing in interest with clubs indicating good numbers – but there is always room for more,” she said.
“We are offering another format of cricket to women and girls than what the NTCA offer.
“We’ve met with the Cricket North and players will be able to crossover between the two competitions.”
Whyman said girls aged 14 and over are eligible to play and that the long-term goal was to have every TCL club fielding a women’s team.
She said there are plenty of benefits for clubs to get involved.
“Being involved is good for clubs as they have a new member base and more people to volunteer,” Whyman said.
“We play mostly on Wednesday nights from 6pm but there will be a few games we will play on Saturdays before the men.
“The rules are slightly modified to make it a more fun and friendly environment.”
Whyman said the pitch would be shortened for the first few rounds to give new players a chance to adjust and feel comfortable.
She said if batters are not dismissed after four overs they are required to retire but can return if time permits.
“We encourage anyone that think they might be interested in cricket to come and give it a go,” Whyman said.
“We cater for all abilities, no one is judgemental – it’s about having a go.”
The 10-round season includes several breaks in December and January.
It will finish on February 15 before a finals series that ends with a decider on March 8.
