The fundraiser will be held on Sunday November 6 and include a charity motorcycle ride from the Mowbray animal care centre to Beaconsfield where the RSPCA will host a family fun day at the RSL park.
RSPCA Tasmania marketing and fundraising coordinator Melanie Knight said a target of $10,000 had been set for the event.
“Obviously we are hoping to raise funds for the organisation, but we’re also looking to engage with the community,” she said.
“We always want to meet people who are passionate about animal care and adoption, who may like to sign up to volunteer and of course we’d like to find forever homes for our animals.”
This year’s Beaconsfield community day is a new addition to the ‘Roars 4 Paws’ event and West Tamar mayor Christina Holmdahl said the council was happy to be able to support the RSPCA.
“It’s very important to support organisations such as this I think..there are so many neglected and abandoned animals in our community...without the RSPCA and the work they do, where would we be?” she said.
Riders can register for the event online.
