Step UP! for Down syndrome is free of charge to enter but entrants can seek sponsorship and registrations are welcome on the day.
Down Syndrome Tasmania vice-president Rebecca Kelly said families came from all over Northern Tasmania for the annual event.
Mrs Kelly described the walk as non-competitive and enjoyable, and said there would be plenty of fun activities for the kids and a barbeque for lunch.
"It'll be a really fun day," Mrs Kelly said.
Mrs Kelly said the day had two aims: to celebrate people with Down syndrome and raise awareness, and to raise funds. Funds go towards providing education for Down Syndrome Tasmania members.
The walk will take place at Royal Park, Launceston on Sunday October 16 at 10.30am. For more information on the Launceston event, email info@downsyndrometasmania.org.au
