A finalist from each state and territory came together in Melbourne to battle for top place, the cream of the crop from more than 1500 competitors around Australia.
Eamonn performed a prepared and an impromptu speech to secure the place. His prepared speech focussed on gun violence in the US, and his impromptu on the uncertainty surrounding the US political scene.
Eamonn said his interest in issues of public significance served him well in preparing his speeches.
“You find the more knowledge and factual information that you know the better prepared you are, so I’m always one that’s wanting to keep up with the news and issues that are going on in Tasmania, Australia and worldwide."
He began public speaking in grade 6 and was hooked.
“I love to perform… and it gives me an opportunity to speak about things that I'm passionate about,” Eamonn said, adding that he enjoys being able to speak to the public about issues of importance.
