Bonney, 14, of Legana, set new Tasmanian records in the 50-metre breaststroke during the long course season.
He was the club’s male swimmer of the year, an age group champion and also set seven new club records.
Retiring president Doug Blackaby highlighted a number of achievements.
“Both locally and nationally our swimmers have achieved so much,” he said.
“We had 14 selected from our club to represent the state at the Pacific School Games, four attend nationals and another at the Victorian championships, which is a wonderful reflection of the quality of our swimmers and coach.
“There were some outstanding efforts with many BPs and national times but the thing that I’m most proud of is the way that the swimmers conducted themselves both in and out of the pool.”
Blackaby said that swimming was a “wonderful life platform”.
High school teacher Leigh Bonney is the new president and Ted Cooper the vice-president.
The 2015-16 club captains, Jack Sladden and Sophie Taylor, were acknowledged. Sladden and Georgia Davis are this year’s captains.
A number of club records were broken. The longest-standing was Adam Derbyshire’s 1991 benchmark for eight year old boys’ 99m freestyle which Harrison Edmunds took almost eight seconds off.
