The 18-year-old, health and physical education university student has been umpiring for four years, starting off as a boundary umpire before making the transition to field umpiring in the past two.
“One of my mates did umpiring and asked me if I would like to do it and I went along to training and have been doing it ever since,” McIntee said. “I started as a boundary umpire and I love it. You make lots of friends and just enjoying being around the other guys.
“Making the switch to field umpiring was a little bit hard to start with but I found I enjoyed field umpiring more than boundary umpiring.”
McIntee has umpired games in the State League Development League and in NTFA division 1 and 2 games, but was looking forward to stepping up to TSL senior level for the first time.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity and plan to continue as long as I can – umpiring at AFL level one day would be the ultimate goal, but at the moment I am happy doing senior games,” he said.
