LPO is kicking off with a performance of well-known classics at the City Baptist Church on Frederick Street.
Musical director and conductor Stephen King said the venue provides a totally different acoustic for the orchestra.
"The program is designed to be both stretch the playing abilities of the orchestra, as well as be listenable for the audience; so I believe we are in for an exciting night of music making," Mr King said.
The seventy-piece community based orchestra has worked extremely hard throughout their brief rehearsal period.
Tickets for the concert, held on Saturday May 14, are available from Barratts Music, orchestra members and on the night.
