Welcoming the Sandringham Sabres to Schweppes Arena in Ulverstone, the Thunder started sluggishly but turned the game around after quarter time to take the win 83-73.
Down 20-25 at the first break, the Thunder lifted their game in the second term, taking a four point lead into the main break.
The home side never trailed after half time and the combination of Jackson and Johnson along with impressive debut displays from recruits Jamie Mesman and Tyler Kelly, the Thunder were too good at home.
Jackson finished the game with 33 points and 14 rebounds while Johnson chimed in for 26 points and 12 rebounds. Thunder take to the court next Friday when they travel to Hobart to take on the Hobart Chargers.
