According to the report, NTD requires the appointment of a skills-based board, additional funding, and greater private sector involvement.
The organisational changes will be led by former Launceston Chamber of Commerce executive officer Maree Tetlow as NTD’s interim chief executive.
The report, compiled by Bill Fox and Associates, found that NRM North and TNT should remain as separate entities.
NTD’s Local Government Committee has reviewed the report, and has accepted the recommendations in principle.
NTD chairman Albert van Zetten said the group would focus on developing strong economic growth opportunities across the region, and thanked NTD vice-chairman Craig Perkins for stepping into the interim chief executive role over the past three months.
The new structure is expected to be presented in June.
