In 1972, City-South beat Latrobe by 36 points in front of a crowd of 10,550 at York Park and became the first Tasmanian team to compete in the Australian club championships.
In the South Australian carnival, City-South was pitted against Carlton, North Adelaide and East Perth.
East Perth was coached by Mal Brown, and there is a chance he will be in Launceston for the reunion on October 13.
"We will know in the next few days if Mal is going to be here," City-South captain Darrel Green said.
Brown was recognised as one of the wildmen of football and made his mark during the Adelaide carnival, clashing with several Carlton players as East Perth went on to score an upset win against the VFL premier.
Organisers are attempting to contact players, committee members and supporters from 1972 to attend the reunion, which will be held at the TRC Hotel at 1pm.
The TRC Hotel was chosen as the venue because owner Don McQuestin's father Mac was a long-term statistician with City-South.
Former City-South champion Graeme "Dreams" Wilkinson said the achievements of the club in 1972 should never be discounted.
"Bob Miller coached the team that beat Launceston in the NTFA grand final by 46 points and then accounted for Latrobe in the state flag," he said.
"City-South made the NTFA grand final in all three grades in 1972.
"In the club championships, City-South played Carlton, North Adelaide and East Perth," he said.
"City-South had to play two days running, which is unheard of nowadays.
"To play consecutive games of that quality was outstanding."
The reunion is being organised by Green and fellow former players Wayne Chugg and Craig Coombes.
Indications are that most members of the team will be there.
Green, who was recruited to City-South from Cooee, captained the team in 1972.
Other prominent players included Stephen "Skippy" Young, Stephen Hortle and Graeme "Butchy" Dargan.
"We're trying to make people aware of the reunion, if they haven't been contacted already," Green said.
Information on the reunion can be obtained from Green (0417593320), Wayne Chugg (0417331001) or Craig Coombes (0414848595).
