Diversity Launceston’s street festival will be held in Civic Square on Saturday.
Co-organiser Mandy How said the free event would feature music from Launceston musicians, drag shows, a poetry space, a kids’ corner, food, the Living Library, market stalls and interactive art.
She encouraged everyone who supported diversity to attend Saturday’s event and said it was a good opportunity for families to have a fun, laid-back day out.
‘‘I’d encourage people to bring along their picnic rugs and chairs and you can hang out all day,’’ she said.
‘‘The premise of the event is to bring a sense of community and community connectedness, because there is a GLBTIQ [gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer] community in Launceston.
‘‘Come and join us and talk to us and get to know us – we’re just people.’’
The Diversity Street Festival forms part of TasPride’s calendar of events.
