A TASMANIAN sexual predator who abused nine young boys has been jailed for seven years. The 65-year-old man's child sex crimes were committed between 1978 and 2013. All of the boys were aged between 12 and 15 when he assaulted them. Justice David Porter said it was clear the man's crimes were calculated, and had significantly damaged the lives of his victims and their families. Justice Porter said the man used his position as a teacher and personal trainer to gain their trust, and abused it in the worst possible way. He said one victim had been left feeling isolated and afraid, while another was left suicidal and angry. The offender earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of maintaining a sexual relationship with a young person and eight counts of indecent assault, as well as producing and possessing child exploitation material. He will be eligible for parole after three-and-a-half years.
