FRIENDS of an accused killer fled to Western Australia after receiving threats in the wake of the alleged attack, a court has heard. Lenah Valley man Brodie Lee Price has pleaded not guilty to shooting Jason William McPherson, 41, on January 17 last year. Mr Price, 20, allegedly killed Mr McPherson outside the man's Kingston house while his girlfriend, Lucy Chapman, waited in the car. Miss Chapman told the court she thought they had driven to Mr McPherson's property to score methamphetamine. "I thought that's what we were going there for," she said. "He came back to the car with the gun and said that he'd shot Jason." Miss Chapman denied planning to rob Mr McPherson, or any other drug dealers, to feed their drug habits. Under cross-examination, Miss Chapman admitted to earlier deliberately lying in court and giving false police statements about exactly what happened that night. "I made a false statement - two false statements," she said. "Brodie asked me to and I wanted to try and protect my partner." Later, the court heard that she and Mr Price drove directly from the alleged shooting to the Glenorchy unit of friend Matthew O'Brien. "(Brodie) had just shot someone and he didn't know where else to go," Miss Chapman said. Mr O'Brien said Mr Price appeared "a bit excited" when he arrived late in the night, wanting to smoke cannabis. "He might have been a bit energetic ... pacing a little bit," Mr O'Brien said. The court heard Mr O'Brien and his girlfriend Jessie Jameson found out about the shooting on social media later that night. Mr O'Brien then received a phone call saying some people thought he was involved in the shooting and suggesting he leave the state. "I got told to get out of the area and wait until it all calms down," he told the court. Mr O'Brien and Miss Jameson both denied going to Kingston on the night of the murder. The trial, before Justice Stephen Estcourt, continues.
