A SOUTHERN Tasmanian man accused of shooting dead his estranged wife will face court again next month. Klaus Dieter Neubert, 73, had previously pleaded not guilty to murdering Olga Neubert, 37, in a daylight attack at New Town in May. Mr Neubert, of Lymington in the Huon Valley, also pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Ms Neubert's friend, Josephine Cooper. Police have alleged the two women were shot as they sat in their car on the busy Risdon Road, with officers describing it as a brutal and tragic attack likely to have been witnessed by dozens of people. Ms Neubert died from her injuries and Ms Cooper was severely wounded. Mr Neubert has also pleaded to a number of gun offences, including possessing a shortened firearm, and possessing and using a loaded, unregistered firearm in a public place without a licence. The defendant's lawyer, Fabiano Cangelosi, said he would require some time to consider the large amount of material related to the charges. Mr Neubert was remanded in custody to reappear in court on October 12.
