POLICE will be out in force across the state’s roads today in a targeted blitz on dangerous driving. More than 100 officers will take part in Operation Zero, which focuses on speeding, drink- and drug-driving, inattention, failure to wear seatbelts and fatigue. Inspector John Ward said police would be on city and country roads during the operation, which runs until midnight. ‘‘With the amount of officers on duty around the state we’ll concentrate on the city and the rural roads,’’ he said. Inspector Ward said police would not look to fine all drivers. ‘‘When we intercept people, we generally like to have a talk about the offence they’ve committed,’’ he said. ‘‘The ultimate aim would be to reduce crashes and provided education to the public.’’
