THE father of a missing Launceston man has appealed for witnesses who might have seen his son walking along the Midland Highway on the night he went missing.
Ben Wara Plowright was last seen on foot leaving a house in the Perth area in the Northern Midlands, on Saturday, May 30 about 9.30pm.
He was expected at his job at a Launceston hotel later that night but failed to show.
Police believe the 20-year-old might have tried to make his way from Perth to Launceston on the Midland Highway via the Breadalbane roundabout between 9.30pm and 11.30pm.
On Tuesday, Detective Sergeant Lisa Heazlewood said police had received information about two potential sightings of Mr Plowright in that area and witnesses believed the person appeared keen to head towards Launceston.
The Northern Criminal Investigation Branch officer said police had no information to suggest foul play or that a car had stopped to pick Mr Plowright up.
Steve Plowright said his son would have been wearing a top that was almost white, which would have been picked up by vehicle headlights very clearly.
His son was last seen in a light grey hooded jacket, skinny blue jeans and black sneakers with red shoe laces.
"We need to know who was travelling on that road between Breadalbane and Launceston on that dual carriageway," Mr Plowright said.
"If someone has seen Ben or a parked car or someone picking him up.
"If anyone who was on that road that evening - maybe they got a flight in from Melbourne or somewhere and got a taxi or drove back about that time - please contact police if they saw a car park or person walking."
He said the family still hoped their son would be found safe and well.
On Tuesday, police released CCTV images of the missing Mr Plowright from the Launceston central business district, taken on the afternoon of May 30.
Detective Sergeant Heazlewood said Mr Plowright would not have been wearing the scarf in the picture because he left it at the house at Perth.
Extensive searches by police, State Emergency Service volunteers and the public have so far found no trace of Mr Plowright.
