THE Mersey Community Hospital will get a big federal funding boost for the next two years. The Abbott Government has reached in-principle agreement with the state government to provide $148.5 million over two years for the Mersey. That is a big advance on the $62.7 million annual base funding it got under the previous deal. The two-year span of the deal, starting on July 1, does not mean the Commonwealth plans to end Mersey funding afterwards.
