A MELBOURNE man has pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder a Rosetta woman, and is now set to face trial in June. Jason Ralph Jay, 33, entered the plea during a brief appearance at the Magistrates Court in Hobart this morning via videolink from Risdon prison. The attempted murder charge stems from an alleged incident at a house in the state's South in March. Police have alleged Mr Jay tried to kill a woman by hitting, kicking and punching her to the head, face and body at a Rosetta residence. They allege he also placed both hands around the woman's neck, mouth and nose, strangling her and telling her that he wanted her to die. Police said the woman sustained extensive injuries and was hospitalised in a serious condition. Mr Jay was arrested at Hobart Airport on the night of the alleged attack. He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Supreme Court in Hobart on June 9.
