FORMER Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association chief executive Jan Davis has ruled herself out of running in next month's Legislative Council elections. Ms Davis, recognised as one of the state's most formidable political lobbyists, was widely tipped to contest the Northern seat of Windermere. Since stepping down from her TFGA position in January, Ms Davis consistently stated she was considering her options when asked of her thoughts on a possible tilt. But Ms Davis today confirmed she would not be running. Her announcement, two days out from the close of nominations, leaves four candidates in the race for Windermere. Incumbent Independent MLC Ivan Dean will recontest his seat at the May 2 election. He will be challenged by Labor's Jennifer Houston, the Greens' Vanessa Bleyer and ex-CFMEU state secretary Scott McLean, who is running as an independent.
