TASMANIA'S unemployment rate has improved for the eighth month in a row, dropping to 6.5 per cent. Jobless figures across the state now stand at a three-year long record low, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures released this morning. The rate is now just 0.2 per cent off the national average, which remains steady at 6.3 per cent in both trend and seasonally adjusted measures. However, the state's participation rate for February has slipped backwards to 61.2 per cent in trend terms.
