THE head of Tasmania's peak social services body will step down in July. Tasmanian Council of Social Services chief executive Tony Reidy announced his retirement on Thursday afternoon. Mr Reidy has held the position since January 2011. TasCOSS president Noel Mundy paid tribute to Mr Reidy's advocacy of disadvantaged and vulnerable Tasmanians and his impact behind the scenes. “Tony has led TasCOSS through a period of complex financial and social change for the sector,'' Mr Mundy said. ''His skilled management of TasCOSS has included attainment of quality accreditation and the complete reorganisation of its structure.'' In a statement, TasCOSS said Mr Reidy would leave the full-time workforce following his retirement. Recruitment for a new chief executive is expected to begin within weeks. MORE TO COME
