A BANNED cage fighter's mother and ex-girlfriend rushed to his aid when a bouncer lawfully tried to eject him from a nightclub, a court has heard. Former Invermay man Jordan Charles Garcie was due to contest a common assault allegation in the Launceston Magistrates Court yesterday. However, with a new lawyer he pleaded guilty to the charge, his fourth street attack on a stranger in less than six months. On July 6 and August 11 last year, Garcie assaulted three men outside late night venues in Launceston. The new Queensland resident, known as "Too Classy" Garcie when he fought, was handed another suspended sentence yesterday. He is now serving three suspended sentences and has breached none, because they were not in force when he reoffended. Police prosecutor Kerryne Barwick told the court that before 4am on November 24 last year, Garcie tried to enter Hotel New York in Launceston but the security officer pushed him away because the bar was closed. She said Garcie's mother and ex-girlfriend intervened and there was an altercation between Garcie, the two women and the bouncer. Ms Barwick said Garcie swung three punches at the guard and one punch hit the man's jaw. The victim suffered swelling to his face. Defence solicitor Evan Hughes said his client was still only in his 20s and had already served three months in jail for a previous assault. He said the health-conscious Garcie came from a good family but self-medicated with alcohol in a difficult period. Mr Hughes said Garcie was being treated for a depressive mood and an adjustment disorder. Magistrate Michael Brett said that because it was Garcie's third offence over a short period, he must have been on bail or at least have known that he was in trouble. He jailed Garcie for two months, wholly suspended for 18 months, and said this period would expire about the same time as his other suspended terms.
