DISTINGUISHED legal academic and avid outdoor explorer Kate Warner has been sworn in as the 28th Governor of Tasmania. Professor Warner was this afternoon sworn in by Chief Justice Alan Blow at a lavish ceremony at Government House. The Governor's husband, two daughters and five grandchildren were flanked by state parliamentarians and Supreme Court judges to observe today's formalities. The law reformer and sentencing expert swore an allegiance to Queen and country as she accepted her new constitutional, community and ceremonial role. Professor Warner replaces the late Peter Underwood, who died earlier this year.
