Launceston lawyer Adrian John Hall will be sentenced next week for stealing from his former employer. Hall appeared in the Supreme Court of Tasmania in Hobart this morning via videolink from Launceston. Justice Stephen Estcourt ordered Hall to appear on Wednesday for mitigation submissions and sentence. Hall, 39, was last week found guilty of having stolen up to $11,000 from his former employer. Jurors found Hall guilty of four counts of stealing. The criminal solicitor originally contested eight counts of stealing last week, which was reduced to seven counts after one was dropped. Hall's offending involved pocketing unreceipted cash payments from clients before the money made it into the firm's trust account, including receiving cash at court and, in one instance, a coffee shop in the Brisbane Street Mall. The Legal Profession Board of Tasmania last week directed the Law Society of Tasmania to suspend Hall's practising certificate until June 30, 2015.
