Police will allege the 19-year-old robbed the taxi driver at knife point after being driven to the Devonport Football Oval.
As he fled the robber changed clothes in an effort to change his appearance, police said.
Officers from the Devonport Criminal Investigation Branch located the male in the driveway of a property on the same street as the oval. The male was arrested and the stolen property and knife were located.
The man was charged and appeared in an out of sittings court at Devonport. He was remanded in custody to re-appear today.
Devonport Criminal Investigation Branch would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a male running in the area of James Street and North Fenton Street on Friday between 1:30 and 1:45 pm. If anyone has information they can either contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Devonport CIB on 6478 4037.
