LAUNCESTON’S Quadrant Mall is set for one heck of a party later this year.
The North’s first Diversity Street Party is locked in for November 8 from 12.30-4pm.
‘‘We decided OK, we’ll give it a crack,’’ Diversity Launceston co-ordinator Mandy How said.
‘‘We’ve been putting it all together and will do it as an event for TasPride.’’
Buskers, local artists and performers, market stalls and roaming drag queens and kings will set the scene.
Charles Street’s Fresh will host an after party that evening from 7pm.
Ms How said both events were open to everyone supportive of diversity.
‘‘It’s time – Launceston’s ready,’’ she said.
‘‘There are people that support us, people from all walks of life. It really shouldn’t be an issue any more.’’
Ms How said if the event was successful it was likely to become annual.
