A company spokeswoman confirmed yesterday that it does not own the Dowling Street site, which is due to close to the public at the end of the month.
She said transitioning out of the site would occur over the next few months but in terms of what happens in the future at that location, it was up to the property owner.
The spokeswoman acknowledged there had been some interest from the community for a Big W over time and it would continue to look for potential opportunities.
Woolworths revealed it was consolidating its two Becks sites to one, the Boland Street address, in July.
