That’s the way Falls Festival event director Paul Piticco describes the first line-up announcement for the 2014 version of the Marion Bay New Year’s favourite.
The line-up was announced yesterday, with English indie-rock outfits ALT-J and Glass Animals two of the headline acts.
The Black Lips, Cold War Kids, Jagwar Ma, John Butler Trio, Vance Joy and the Temper Trap, Spiderbait, Joey Bada$$ and Milky Chance are among the other big names on the bill.
‘‘We are trying to deliver to fairly broad tastes which everyone has these days,’’ Piticco said.
‘‘But we are still remaining true to what the Falls essentially is about, which is friends and family, great music and food and a memorable beginning to the new year ahead.
‘‘It will have the vibe you feel when you’re with the right people in your life, in the right place at exactly the right time, surrounded by nature and the world’s best music.
‘‘It’s ambitious, but that’s what we are going for.’’
The festival’s ticket ballot is now open via its website (www.fallsfestival.com.au) and will close on Monday, August 25.
Most of its tickets will be allocated to sales through the ballot, starting at 9am on Thursday, August 28.
However, for those who miss out, there will also be a small allocation of tickets set aside for general public sales starting at 9am on Wednesday, September 3.
The Marion Bay Falls Festival will be held from December 29 to January 1.
