Tha Kazakhstan fighter retained his International Boxing Organisation and World Boxing Association middleweight titles after referee Mike Ortega stopped the fight in the third round.
Golovkin knocked Geale down in the second round with a right and again connected with a big right in the third.
It was Golovkin's 17th straight knockout victory and takes his professional record to 30 wins with 27 knockouts.
