MATTHEW Flapper has made the perfect start in his bid for a lawn bowls triples medal with a win over Pakistan at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. on Thursday night
Australia defeated Pakistan 19-12 in 18 ends.
Flapper combined with Nathan Rice and Wayne Ruediger to take control, but not before an early scare.
Pakistan jumped away to a 6-2 lead after four ends.
Australia then won five shots on the fifth end and the match developed into a head-and-head battle.
It was 12-all after 15 ends, then Australia made its move – getting two, four and one shot to seal the deal to open the round-robin section on a winning note.
