THE Tasmanian Tennis Academy Launceston junior tennis championships wrapped up at the Launceston Regional Tennis Centre yesterday with finals in the under-10 and under-12 singles and the under-16 doubles.
Launceston's Will Gibson defeated another Launceston player in Sam Whitehead in the boys 12 singles final winning 6-4, 6-3.
In the girls' 12 singles final, Chelsea Leggett was too good for Lucy Jones winning 6-0, 6-1.
Launceston's Jake Elmer took out the boys 10 final defeating New South Wales player Tyler Frawley, 6-1, 6-2.
The boys' 16 doubles saw Launceston's Ben Barnett pair up with Turners Beach player Joab Littler to overcome the Hobart pair of Remy Lynch and Sean Oosthauizen, winning 5-7, 6-4, 1-6, in a thrilling third-set tie-breaker.
The final day of the three-day tournament, which attracted about 60 players, was played in perfect conditions.
``It was an excellent tournament, which ran really smoothly and the weather over the last two days was just great,'' tournament director James Bolzonello said.
``It was a category white tournament, which is the lowest level, so to have 60 players is a pretty good turnout.''
