The games, held as part of University of Tasmania's Uni Mates program, will see male and female teams clash at the university's main oval at Newnham.
It will be the sophomore-friendly tournament event, according to University of Tasmania student engagement co-ordinator Robert Alderson.
Mr Alderson said teams from Australian Bhutanese Association of Northern Tasmania last month managed to win most of the games played in the challenge.
He said the initiative was based on fun and had been largely driven by the association.
``They are the key players,'' Mr Alderson said.
``The Bhutanese guys have some very nicely established soccer teams, and we give them the opportunity to use the grounds.
``They're very organised.''
He said about four teams would play today from 2pm and encouraged spectators to attend.
``Last time we estimated we had about 100 people watching,'' Mr Alderson said.
``After all the games are finished, we have a shared barbecue, everyone brings something to eat.''
