The 20-year-old glazier joined the Bombers from Lilydale where he played his junior footy and was part of the club's 2010 State League under-18 premiership side.
He has gone on to rack up nearly 50 senior games, playing mostly on a wing and onball this season with an occasional stint across half-back if required.
``Jack has been really good and in our top three or four players especially for the past six weeks or so,'' Littlejohn said.
``And with the loss of Ethan Petterwood to illness he has really stepped up and shouldered a little bit of that load and taken on what he needs to do.''
Avent said the Bombers started the season really well but admitted they had lost their way a bit in the past few weeks with losses to Devonport and Clarence.
``We've had a few changes and injuries which have affected us.
``Last week we rebounded pretty well against the Tigers but there are a few things still to work on and hopefully we can rectify them this weekend against the Western Storm.
``We beat them last time and I think we can do it again - it's going to be tough and will take a four-quarter effort but if we stick to our structures and work hard I think we can win.''
Happy with his own form, he said he had worked hard on improving his consistency this year and wanted to continue improving.
He has played on Western Storm's Zane Brown before but was unsure if he would get the job on the goalsneak in today's game.
``I'm thinking Logan Reynolds might go to him because he played on him last time,'' Avent said.
``He's looking dangerous after kicking seven goals last week so hopefully we can shut him down along with a few others.
``I'm always a chance to go back on him.
``I enjoy the challenge of playing on good opponents - you have to beat the best to be the best.''
