Lucia Goldfinch, 66, faced the Launceston Magistrates Court today for sentencing on four counts of having obtained a financial advantage.
She had previously pleaded guilty to having defrauded the Commonwealth of more than $26,000 over a six-year period.
Goldfinch had failed to fully declare her income to Centrelink, including processing work she had with seafood companies.
Magistrate Reg Marron convicted Goldfinch and jailed her for eight months, then immediately released her on a $2000 reconnaissance order, on the condition that she commit no further offence of dishonesty in the next 24 months.
He noted that Goldfinch was still to repay $11,270.30 and further ordered that she do so.
