Kicking, lunging and flailing were part of the energetic display, held at Launceston's Princess Theatre.
A swathe of colours and bold poses brought applause from audiences as efforts were scrutinised by the competition's watchful adjudicators.
Competition will continue today and includes a national solo section - other than English, Irish or Scottish - for entrants aged from 13 and under 15.
Speed tap solos, song and soft shoe dance solo, jazz group and restricted tap sections will also be a part of today's dance-offs.
The Launceston Competitions' dance section began on Friday and will run through until Saturday.
