Bolt, a two-year-old household cat, was allegedly shot in a family's backyard at Kings Meadows earlier this month.

As a result of an investigation a 70-year-old man was interviewed and subsequently charged.

He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court.

Investigations are ongoing and other charges may be added later, police said.
